France assures that crisis in the Middle East will not affect support for Kyiv

The two also discussed the Black Sea corridor for cereal exports that Ukraine intends to implement, despite the Russian blockade.

Macron and Zelensky also talked about the resurgence of violence in the Middle East, with the massacres of Israelis perpetrated by Hamas on October 7 and Israel’s response in Gaza.

“We both stressed the need to protect civilians and avoid any further escalation in the region,” noted the Ukrainian President.

Ukraine expects a new Russian bombing campaign on its critical infrastructure this winter, similar to last year, when Russian attacks plunged millions of people into darkness.

The military offensive launched on February 24, 2022 by Russia in Ukraine caused, according to the most recent UN data, the worst refugee crisis in Europe since the Second World War (1939-1945).

The Russian invasion – justified by Russian President Vladimir Putin with the need to “denazify” and demilitarize Ukraine for Russia’s security – was condemned by most of the international community, which has responded by sending weapons to Ukraine and imposing Russia from political and economic sanctions.
